Why Run
RUN 4 THEM
We run for THEM. Who are THEY?
Mayan Families:
They are the beautiful people of the indigenous region of Guatemala. They are our fellow human beings filled with dreams for their lives and hopes for their children. But they are lacking basic resources like beds to get a good night’s rest, stoves on which to cook, and clean water. Proceeds from our race will go towards purchasing these types of items which will help them tremendously in their daily lives. We are also taking up collections like stuffed animals and soccer supplies. Please contact Cat Reyes at familiareyes2@msn.com if you are interested in recycling your old stuff through the people of Guatemala. For more information, please visit www.mayanfamilies.org
Kids in the Canyon:
THEY are a group of young, ambitious, Central Falls High School Students, committed to creating a bright future for their tomorrows. Designed by founder, Don Blais, these students are dedicated to a 10 month intensive program, where they serve their community, train to become strong hikers, and uphold good grades, with the conclusion of the program being a trailblazing trip to the Grand Canyon. We are encouraged to raise money for a group of young people who are focused on building a great future for themselves. For more information, contact kidsinthecanyon@yahoo.com
Evan’s Crew
Evan’s Crew: Towards a Cure In Memory of Evan T. Mandeville who lost his battle to Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma on November 13, 2012 when he was just 11 years old.
With a team of 80 people at last year’s race 2014, this year we are hoping to be even bigger!
We are doing what we can to support efforts towards a cure for DIPG; this rare, always fatal and underfunded pediatric brain tumor. Evan participated in two clinical trials during his exactly one year battle. Clinical trials are the ONLY hope for this devastating diagnosis. We’ve established the Evan T. Mandeville DIPG Research Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute where he was treated. Evan’s Crew participates in the Pan-Mass Challenge and is our primary fundraising vehicle. 100% of all donations made through the PMC goes directly to Evan’s research fund.
Our hope… that each year will bring new insight into this pediatric brain tumor and that soon, there will be a REAL choice in treatment for other families.
We want to support them in their efforts towards finding a cure and with your help we will. 100% of all donations made to Team Evan’s Crew are directed specifically to DIPG research.
